Automated Building Metadata Collection and Scalable Application Deployment

Metadata of existing building systems exist in menagerie of isolated, disparate and often contradicting formats. For example, in a building as modern as the Sutardja Dai Hall on the UC Berkeley Campus ( constructed in the late 90s ), the floorplan data is captured through PDF blueprints or manual drawings in the BMS system, point names are found through manually going through the BMS system or by network discovery protocols, and the functional relationship between different components of the physical and information components are virtually non-existent. This precludes the possibility of write-once-run-everywhere building applications. This project aims at ingesting the existing chunks of building metadata into a common format taking into account the possible errors of the various ingestion sources.[??link???]
